M7VIB Is designed for both Register DDR and Un-buffer DDR memory. The different between Register and Un-buffer memory Is, the Register memory able to control the CAS and RAS timing. This Is because the Register memory has a built-in controller. If the system detects a controller on the DIMM, the memory driving timing will be controlled by the memory itself. As per Un-buffer memory, the system will control the memory timing.

We had tested the M7VIB with following GeForce 4 AGP card, no any problem was observed. MSI-G4MX460-T, ELSA-Gladiac517TV-Out, ABIT-SiluroGF4MX, Winfast-A170R/64MBDDR, PROLINK-Geforce4 MX440, Asus-GeForce4MX440 and SUMA-Platinum GeForceMX440

The problem Is caused by the Memory compatibility Issues. The problem can be resolved by update the BIOS to VIB0726F.

The Windows 2000 Operating System unable to detect the HPT370 chipset automatically, so, we need addition driver for It. Please refer to our CD installation guide under VIA driver CD, path as \MANUAL\SW\MIA.PDF. Please follow the Instruction In order to complete the HPT370 installation procedure.

The problem Is caused by the Chipset coding error. Updating a new BIOS of MIA0517F, will solve the problem.

Windows 95 got the same timing loop problem with P4 platform as occurred on AMD K6/2 processor before. To install Win95 on P4 motherboard, you need to downgrade the processor to 800MHz if possible and load the AMDK6UPD patch file from Microsoft. If the processor frequency is locked like regular retail processors, Win95 and the AMDK6UPD patch have to be preloaded on another platform to get rid of the IOS protection error. M7TDX series motherboard use Intel 845 Chipset as MCH (Memory Controller Hub). Based on Intel 845 Chipset specification, 845 Chipset only able to support AGP 4X mode. The main different between AGP 1X, 2X, and 4X is the VGA operating voltage. AGP 4X Is using 1.5V and AGP2X/1X are using 3.3V. The 845 chipset will be damaged If AGP2X VGA card Is used. Biostar have added a protection circuit to prevent the MCH to be burned out when installing an AGP .

M7TDR is using the same Chipset(Intel 845) as M7TDB uses. This Chipset support both socket 423 & Socket 478 CPU. These two type of CPU are basiclly the same, both of they utilized the 0.18-micro process technology. However the M7TDR Is using Socket 423 CPU and the M7TDB using Socket478 CPU.
